Now PlexConnect is getting fairly mature i am looking at recording a couple of screencasts, does anyone have either a "Elgato Games Capture HD" or a "Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition" HDMI capture device and if so are they able to test if they can be used to capture the ATV interface for a high quality screencast for a couple of feature and installation walkthroughs?
I know i could always film the screen but it will not look as good, especially since i have a reflective plasma screen.

I have always wanted one of these hdmi recorders myself, and I wonder the same answer as well. I never seen the hauppauge one, nice both work with osx 
I wonder what all you can save with it. I would imagine any hdcp content on directv, dish, comcast, atv, blu-ray, etc wouldn’t work. I wonder if all content from plexconnect could be recorded using one of these hdmi recorders On a side note recording from xbmc on a mac or another device in 720p, 1080i/p would be nice as well to pump videos back into pms to have plexconnect serve back saved content to the atv.

Yes... in fact aTV (jailbroken) nowadays prevents relpaying media via VLC client back to my Mac - it will show a "need a HDCP TV" message if (and only if...) the TV set is off. As soon as TV is switched on, aTV will actually start the replay - though streaming back the shown content does not work due to aTV processor/network bandwidth limitation (I guess). You will only get a black screen.

What is that supposed to do? All content shown via xbmc or similar is already available digitally. Why do you need to re-encode the actually displayed stuff?
Say there is some content not available somewhere but xbmc has it in a plugin, or if I would like to record anything on my mac using any app, I could then record it then re-encode it for personal use, say gameplay or anything really.
Well to answer my own question after doing some more research, it apparently does work to record the screen but not HDCP content.
