Any way to use PLEX DVR to record non-DRM/unencrypted source material from HDMI cable? For example home made DVDs from DVD player or video from HDMI output from camcorder? I have much self created content like this I’d like to capture into PLEX library.
What format is the media currently in?
For the DVD’s have you looked at something like http://www.makemkv.com/
And for the camcorder media take a look at something like https://handbrake.fr/

I’m familiar enough with tools like handbrake and makemkv. What I’m hoping to do is to take unencrypted signals directly from hdmi cable out of dvd player or camcorder and have plex “DVR” them. Seems like the DVR is hardware limited to certain OTA boxes. I suppose I could get a hdmi capture card for PC, run the signal in there then transfer the video files to PLEX library. Just hoping to forego intermediate steps. Would be nice if there was a way for PLEX DVR to process more than just OTA TV into DVR.
