So I was playing around with the aTV4 and I was able to add certs and point the DNS @ my PlexConnect host. Yes I know you can add the native Plex app or PlexConnectApp via USB-C. My question is if we could still hijack a particular app could we serve up a modified PlexConnect TVOS XML’s instead of loading a new version everytime via the USB-C? My guess is no according to this topic but still is interesting that you can still upload certs and change the DNS like on the aTV2/3:
You can add certs by navigating to general then privacy, then press play on send data to apple. I tried movie trailers but nothing happened which is expected so far since aTV4 likely isn’t detected yet (if ever added) and tvos isn’t being served.
I thought there have been reports, that exactly this has been working before, no?
Personally, I never checked - why taking on the headache of stacking up difficult hacks? I mean, one hack is fine… but putting another one on top. Why?
That PlexConnectApp is capable of the same, right? Providing a (more or less) easy XML language to modify the view to your liking. Why don’t you use that, adapted to your needs?
I guess the benefit in my mind would be not hooking up the aTV4 to my mac evertime an update is pushed. This would also benefit non mac users that do not have access to a OS X host. Just an alternative idea…

I didn’t realize we could edit the layouts ourselves, Im not a developer/programmer is it something that I could pickup easily ? I’m more of a fan of the grid view so I’ve been holding off testing the plexconnectapp more extensively as list view annoys me, first world problems I know ! lol !
