ATVSettings.cfg Multiple ATV3?

Hi there,

 

I am really new to the PMS and stuff but it is totally amazing what you can do with it. For me PlexConnect is the best thing ever since I have several AppleTVs in my house.

 

Now to me question, since I got several ATV3's and I wanted to connect them all to me PMS thru PlexConnect I got a bit of a problem. After I successfully setup the first one. I started with the second one and it automaticly took the myPlex Username and Password from the first one. Don't know why that happend? So I left it like it was. Now when I start streaming Movie A on my first ATV and start streaming a Movie B on my second ATV. Pictures get mixed up!? This is my ATVSettings.cfg

PMS and PlexConnect are not in my LAN. They are WAN based. Both at AWS.

 

Any ideas?

PlexConnect is designed to be used only on the local network so you are running a configuration that is not supported (it isn’t great running the DNS part exposed to the world either as hackers will utilise it - not sure if you disabled this and are using your own locked down version). You do not have to have a local PMS though.

Maybe it is getting confused as your ATV devices will have the same IP when accessing over the WAN, even if if differentiates between the two the code is probably designed to send via IP address.

Baa can probably confirm the veracity of this.

What?

What you write down means that your aTVs' UDIDs were identical. Highly unlikely, I guess. As you have multiple, try another one...

Though I don't think it would mix the pictures from both movies...

Edit: yes, there is a fallback using the IP address, but once PlexConnect gets the UDID everything should be ok?

I saved my myplex login/pw in Atvsettings.cfg under the right udid, but after restarting plexconnect these settings are gone!!

did i something wrong?

Depends...

Did you -save .cfg, -stop PlexConnect, -restart it or -stop, - save, -restart?

Order is important, as shutting down would overwrite the current file.

Also, it's not the password getting saved, but the "myplex token" returned by myplex server. It somehow contains your password, but also other information, like device and so on...

I did -save .cfg - stop - start PlexConnect :( so i need to stop save start?

Yep - stop will dump the current settings. Then you can change/save them from a texteditor and restart PlexConnect.
