Running a 2011 MacBook Pro w/ macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
The latest Plex for Mac plays audio but isn’t showing any video. Same results trying to play a recorded video or live TV off a Silicondust tuner
I’ve tried deleting the app/cache/library files etc., re-downloading, reinstalling and logging in again. No luck.
Everything plays/works just fine if I use the Plex Web app in Safari and using my LG TV, Roku and Fire Stick Plex apps. Only the local Plex for Mac app appears to be having the problem.
Had similar issues on 2010 mini OSX High Sierra. I removed Plex for Mac and went back to the legacy Plex Media player which fixed the video playback
Alternatively, you could try and change the settings within Plex for Mac and set the video play back to low quality and remove/uncheck the hardware acceleration (This option didnt work out as an optimum solution for me as video playback was not smooth. I went back to Plex media player instead)
I have the same problem. In a Macbook Pro Early 2011 - MacOs 10.13.6.
The files (movies or tv shows) view correctly in other devices (Plex App Windows, Android Tv, iPhone, iPad…) but not view in a Macbook Pro, only have sound and subtitles, no image.
I tried to change the quality, from Original to 720p or 480p but not work.
The last updates of the Plex Mac app not solve the issue.
Someone have a solution? I use the Versión 1.34.1.2590-74ea7099

I’m using a 2011 MacBook Pro 13" (2,3 Ghz Intel Core I5, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512Mo), Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6 and Plex For Mac Version 1.35.1.2632-c6783c78.
Sound plays, but no image…
I have been using the past versions which worked correctly (can’t remember which version started the issue) and I would gladly find a solution too…
And finally, yes, reinstalling the legacy PLEX MEDIA PLAYER for Mac allows me to view the movies…
Hi all… the same issue in here… I’ve a Pi 4B 8GB as a Plex Server 1.24.4.5081.
I use different clients like Firestick 4K, Apple TV 4K, browsers (safari, chrome, ie, edge) they all work except my old but good MacPro early 2011 with High Sierra 10.13.6 with some ups like (512 SSD + 16GB RAM). On the MBP, it has Plex Client for Mac 1.35.1.2632-c6783c78.
I’ve tried different configurations, HW acceleration, etc. but it simply does not work! can hear the audio but can’t see any video.
If I use an older version of Plex for Mac or Plex Media Player 2.58.0.1076 it works perfectly.
So I think there’s a bug in the Plex for Mac 1.35.1.2632-c6783c78.
