Newbie question here. I’m a Subsonic user and testing out Plex. I added my media folder to the library. This folder is broken into subfolders for video, audio, etc. Video folders and video files are recognized. Audio folders and subfolders are recognized but the audio files (mp3, flac, etc) are not. Any easy fix? Thank you.

You should not add your general ‘media’ folder to a plex library.
Instead, use the subfolders Movies, TV Shows, Music

Please understand that Plex copes much better if you use a folder structure.

How do you know they are recognised if you don’t see a single music file appear in your music library?
Having proper metadata in your audio files will drastically improve your music experience with plex. Try using a tool (like musicbrainz picard) to ensure all your metadata is both complete and accurate. Plex uses folder-structure and file-naming as it’s fallback plan for when your meta-data is not in order.
And if you go down that route to fix all metadata in your audio files (when using the Premium music feature) there’s an advanced setting (at creation) where you tell Plex to use that metadata as it’s source.

“Use embedded tags” - section. Easily missed (and afaik not something you can change after creation).
Thank you everyone. I selected correct library types for music, video, etc. I already have files organized into specific folders, for example:
For audio files, I selected Premium music feature to use metadata and embedded tags. I turned the Gracenote genre level to “none” as my music is already grouped by genre in the folder structure and left last three settings checked.
Hopefully good to go? I’ll see after the library is scanned and available.
