Server Version#: 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#:tvOS 14
I am having an issue where certain movies/ tv shows do not play audio at all. I can play them on my iPad/iPhone/Samsung and the audio is fine. It only seems to be on the Apple TV.
I’m having this same issue for a couple of days now, specifically video files with AC3 and EAC3 (Dolby) audio codec.
The issue is in the desktop server and Apple TV 4K app.
Even tho the same files work if I watch them on a computer or mobile device?
Same here, no sounds when AC3 or EAC3. Stereo works. Just noticed it today.
Same problem, happens with AC3/EAC3. Audio appears if I switch from direct play to “convert automatically”.
I’m on version 7.19.1 and the TVOS15 beta.
Switching to the old player in the app seems to work
Theproblem does seem to be down to AC3 and EAC3
Having the same problem, the only way I could fix it temporarily was to switch to the Old Player, then it works… even something I recorded on the DVR had no sound (5.1 soundtrack)
I’m not the only person. Do we have any solutions?
Same issue here. GF was very ticked off tonight.
Eventually figured out converting video to some other format and audio came back. Super annoying.
The fix is stop using the Apple TV. Plex audio works fine from the TV OS and anything else… come on Plex devs!!
Thanks for the tip on using the old player. It’s still driving me crazy because I can’t even load Plex in testflight to change the version of Plex.
I’m having the same issue as well. Noticed it’s doing it on my iPad and iPhone too. Not sure if it’s related but they’re all on the iOS 15 Betas. I did find that switching to the PIP player on iPhone and iPad the audio works, but stops again as soon as you switch back to the Plex app.
How can it stop working like that when nothing is changed? No update on PMS or the player.
Yes and when I use the old player, I start to have issues with the network saying that it has run out of bandwidth (only happens with the old player). Damned if you do…
So it seems to be something to do with the Apple devices with people using betas. How do we fix this, the old player is terrible but I have no choice but to use it and there’s no way to downgrade an Apple TV from the TVOS 15 beta I’m running right now, does anyone know if there are any options? Should I just push through and keep updating the beta to see if that changes anything or do we just have to wait for the official release in the fall?
kind of funny but this issue just started today for me and my apple tv. nothing has changed.
Sadly, after having reset my ATV 4K it doesn’t revert to the non beta os (14.7).
…so
The most convenient workaround I came up with is installing the Plex app directly to my TV (LG webOS). It is all in working order.
All of this mishegoss (I would guess) is tied to Apple implementing Spatial Audio to a greater degree into all its OS 15 platforms.
I would continue to update (TVos and Plex) in the hope it will be fixed…But it’s just a (frustrating) waiting game now.
Then turn off access to betas in the future.
I’m not so sure.
With my Atmos capable soundbar…
Black Widow with EAC3 + Atmos…Totally mute.
With the old player I get sound but no Atmos triggered.
With Infuse connected to Plex the same file triggers Atmos.
Yep it is. 9 days and its not even drawn anyone’s (fromPlex) attention yet.
@DaveBinM Sorry for the tag but it would be nice to know this issue is acknowledged.
Same issue here…
Temp solution.
- Choose “Convert Automatically” in playback settings…
or - Choose “Auto Adjust Quality” from Main Settings…
Is this with the tvOS15 betas? There are some changes in the API on Apple’s side which we’ll need to address prior to public release, but I haven’t seen anything specific for tvOS 14
