Same with the AppleTV running tvOS 15 dev beta 1

What do you mean by “same” – you have a beta of tvOS 15 installed?

I have tvOS 15 beta installed and I can confirm the issue is as described in the first post.

I bet DTS and DTS-HD work because they’re being transcoded to AAC. What’s it say in the server status dashboard, or on the ATV in Technical Details during playback?

Screenshot from Show Enhanced Video Player Debugging:

I can’t get logs from the Apple TV. I get this error in my web browser when I try to connect to the listed address:

I’d be happy to privately share logs from the iPhone if it’s helpful. Everything looks good until decoding actually begins, and then these two messages are spammmmmmed.

yep, I’ve updated my post… Same issue on the beta tvOS on both my AppleTVs. Switching to the old player and audio works.

I have the same issue with iPadOS 15 beta 1. Switching to the old player where transcoding is forced fixed it. Direct play with the new player doesn’t have any audio.

Turning off “Allow Direct Play” and turning on “Use Old Video Player” under advanced settings resolves the audio issues for me. However having problems watching any sync’d content, just won’t start playing. No big deal, to be expected with beta software

Unfortunately, infuse doesn’t work either on beta 1, although they’ve said it will be fixed in the next update.

Anything with DTS seems to play fine with the new player, but Dolby Digital stuff only works transcoded. Infuse just crashes completely.

I’m using the latest inFuse beta, working just fine (v7.0.5 3680).

Can confirm that I am having the same issue on iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and MacOS Monterey! Switching to the old player works for me. Although I dont know how to fix that on the Mac.

had to switch to the old player to get an image. the new player just showed black with the audio playing.

I’m also having issues with playback of any locally sync’d content in Plex with iPadOS 15 Beta 1. When playing local / synced content I just get a yellow spinning circle with the show art in the background, no matter if 264 or 264 (or type of audio). No combination of settings for direct playback and new media player makes any difference.

Once again fully understand this is a non supported beta operating system, just sharing to help.

I don’t see (hear?) any apparent changes in tvOS 15 beta 2.

I installed iOS 15 beta 2 this morning, turned on direct play and turned use old player off…and everything is working just fine, both audio and video for x265/264 and AAC, Dolby etc.

E/AC3 still isn’t working for me without the old player on any Apple devices on beta 2.

Issue persist with second beta of both iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. As mentioned here before enabling the old player is a valid workaroud for the issue.

The same issue persists with iOS beta 2 as well.

Was watching a movie (MKV) direct play on my iPad Pro with iPasOS 14.5 without any issues.

After updating to iPadOS 15 beta 2 EAC3 5.1 sound will not play, just silence. Had to enable transcoding which works but converts to Stereo sound only

Same issues for all my other movies when watching on my iPad with iPadOS 15 beta 2.

iOS 15 beta 2, newest server and app.

Also having no audio with EAC3 using Direct Play. However, popping-out the video does fix the audio. Not sure why, weird.
