Audio Issues with Plex Ps4 App

Good day chaps,

I am currently having several issues with my Plex for PS4. My currents set up is as follows:
Philips 55PUS6703
PS4 Pro Connected via optical out to
Sonos Soundbar with 2 sonos:play 1 satellites

  1. When direct streaming/playing an AC3 track no audio is being played. I have checked with multiple videos and also checked that my sonos is accepting an ac3 track. When using the PS4 DLNA player to play the same media there is no issue.

  2. When no AC3 track is available Plex transcodes to AAC. As a results I lose my surround sound track. This is despite a lot of tinkering with the PS4 app profile.

Any help would be appreciated guys, thanks in advance!

Same problem here…
After last updating plex to 4.1.1,
no 5.1 sound any more over sonos.
Before it worked like a charm and i enjoyed it everyday. But now its so frustrating. Please fix it.

Same issue!
PS4 Pro —HDMI—Receiver----TV.
anything encoded dts,AAC 5.1 automatically drops to 2.0pcm

Games, Netflix, Blurays all output correctly. Some insight on this would be wonderful. Thank You!

I also lost 5.1 AC3 after the 4.1.1 Plex update on the PS4. Any ETA on a fix or update? Thank you

Everyone having same issue. You think plex would TEST these things first?

Bad enough that desktop removed TV mode so I have no choice but to connect hdd direct to get surround sound now.

Same thing here. After last update I lost my Surround Sound. I might have to go back to kodi on a HTPC. The problems with Plex on consoles and them just not testing their software first is ridiculous.

Got the same error as well. The PS4 (non pro) is setup to bitstream Dolby Digital over SPDIF to my Denon recciver. If I have Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital+ checked in Plex I get no audio at all. When I decheck the formats I get audio, but only 2.0…

Same problem for me.

For your information : if you use the included default media player on playstation 4, you can see PLEX videos and if you play them with ths player it works :slight_smile: (with AC3 etc).

Great, I will test it tonight!

But can you get subtitles on it using that method? I’ve never used the PS4 media player… so I wouldn’t know…

AC3 5.1 was working with the PS4 media player and Plex files but DTS failed to play when I tried it. Thoughts? I know the PS4 has audio settings to define AC3 or DTS as priority. Not sure if that has any affect.
