Audio out of sync while playing certain mkv files

Hello,

I am using the latest version of PlexConnect in combination with PMS 0.9.8.1 running on CentOS 6.4
As a client I am using an ATV3 with Firmware 5.3, and an ATV2 with the 5.3 Firmware as well.
I have noticed that sometimes the audio is a few seconds out of sync for certain mkv files, while playing  the same mkv using PHT on OSX or using the samsung app, the out of sync issue doesn't occur.

Does anyone have similar experiences? Any tweaking which can be done?

Cheers

On your atv try setting the force transcode option to true and playing the same video again, I would be curious to see what happens then.

I'm having the same problem running a similar setup.

I'm using the latest plexconnect with PMS Version 0.9.7.28.33-f80a4a2 as a client I have an ATV3 with latest firmware.

Certain mkv files show an audio sync problem, playing the same files using plex OSX client or playing it using a PCH doesn't show this sync problem.

Can anyone seeing this problem replicate it using the iOS client (iPhone or iPad)?

Hello,

I will do the requested tests as soon as possible, and report back.

The mkv I last saw the issue with was a stereo / 2 channel mkv, this makes me think that the issue doesn't seem to be related to having enabled DD 5.1 for transcodig on the PMS side.

Cheers,

Dark Passenger.

It may not be transcoded but it will have to at least be remuxed to a container that the ATV can play.

Hello,

I have done the 2 tests last night.

Setting the force transcode option to true didn't make a difference, the audio was still not in sync.

I have also used the iphone app to play the same file, and this didn't seem to have the audio sync problem.

The mkv file I have used has a AC3/stereo sound track.

Hello,

I can confirm the same, it however doesn't happen with all files. I am still trying to find a pattern.

Is iPhone using the same audio stream than aTV? Both AC3? Both stereo? Different one?

For testing... you could remove one or the other stream from the mkv container and compare both devices again...

I don't think I am still seeing this issue anymore.

Cheers,

You can try to adjust the frame rate to see if the problem can be solved.

You must set in ATV3 Plex app settings( atv3 Trailers app) Subtitle Renderer setting just to PMS only. ( without IOS) that’s all.

ATV3 IOS version 7.2 and Plex server running in an old windows pc

After that try without restart anything.

Try rolling back your PMS to 0.9.11.6.  I had a very similar issue (files that worked fine previously got audio dropouts and would go out of sync in parts, but it was only some files) and this fixed it for me. I haven't pinpointed the exact build it went off the track but that one worked as a baseline.
