Audio Output settings

My setup is full range stereo (large book shelves, no sub) going through anthem AVR. Have tested out all options and the only way I get the LFE channel presense into my 2 channels is if I say to OPHT I have 7.1 or 5.1 and not passthrough so I get LPCM sent to AVR. If I passthrough or even downmix in plex to 2.0 I am missing that sub bass presence from the LFE track on movies. Have tried it extensively and its night and day, not just a volume thing either.

Now im really happy with the result but am intrigued as to why I only get the full sound from plex sending the LPCM channels and letting my AVR downmix from there. You would of thought the AVR would account for the LFE channel when decoding too?!

Anyone else know much about this?

Many thanks to all you guys making OPHT possible, its just brilliant!

Don’t have Anthem, but passthrough should bring the bitstream straight to the receiver which is then responsible for the decoding of the stream. At that moment, neither PHT or PMS should be touching the data stream - you are simply presenting it to the receiver.

Must be something in the AVR settings. Recommend checking (I’m coming from Denon here) a setting to send LFE to mains, as you only have 2 full size speakers, correct?

Yeah the avr should send lfe to mains as sub is not selected and by default the mains should get the full range. Weird as there is no other setting. Fine though as the lpcm way works fine. Just intrigued. Cheers!
