AFAIK there is only one option: nVidia Shield Pro, connected per HDMI to the AVR, which is then connected to the TV. i.e. no ARC connection.
Optical is not usable for Atmos anyway.
My setup , synology ds918+ for just media storage. An intel i7 NUC running PLEX server connected to the network via ethernet. A Denon AVR960 receiver feeding its output to a TCL 55P607 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV with eARC .
A Fire TV 4K stick connected to internet via ethernet , a Chromecast HDMI dongle connected to internet via wifi.
Fire TV, Chromecast and the intel NUC all connect to Denon AVR HDMI (technically all 4K capable devices) with the ouput to the TCL TV.
With the fireTV
Amazon Video (4K UHD with Atmos) plays correct denon recognizes encoding
Disney+ App plays all its 4K UHD with Atmos content correctly also.
Plex App does not , plays 5.1 content correctly but thats it.
You Tube app also has no Atmos no matter how many Atmos “Test” videos you play.
conclusion the fireTV device can and does play 4K with Atmos content just not fro Plex app and You tube App.
intel nuc with the dolby Atmos app/helper for windows also does not Play Atmos from the plex server app ( altough this is through the web app even though plex is local on that computer) , interesting thing is it recognizes Atmos for brief seconds and then it goes away. Reliably plays 5.1
Misinformed.
“Streaming services Atmos” is not the same as Atmos on UHD Bluray.
The former use a lossy codec, the latter uses a lossless codec. Which leads to drastic difference in audio bitrates.
