Hi, I’m using plex mostly for music. Over few months I’ve encountered some issues with the playback.
When choosing song from an album, It sometimes doesnt autoplay, so I have to press play once or twice again (I think the problem is that the album data loads only partially)
When choosing a song, the timer sometimes freezes at 0:00 but the song is playing (android notification shows accurate playtíme though)
When choosing a song from an album, the minimized version on the bottom is sometimes blank (again android notification is fine) pic attached:
When choosing a song from a queue it automatically switches to next one. For example: No°1 is playing and I choose No° 3 so No°4 starts playing, the rewind button doesnt work, only when I press it at least trice very fast. (It’s so annoying I learnt to always choose the track before the one I want and if the bug didn’t happen, I can at least press forward relatively easily).
When choosing any song while another one is playing (not from a queue though) the app crashes and auto-restarts itself, this occurs in every 10-40 minutes of listening.
the least occuring bug (again triggers itself with pressing a song) is silence. but this has 2 versions:
a) the timer is at 0:00 and doesnt move no matter what i do.
b) the timer continues to 1-7seconds and automatically resets back to 0 (again with no sound)
resetting the android app fixes it always, until it happens again.
just a visual bug but the play/pause button doesn’t represent the current action, this corresponds with the issues above.
I’ve tried: reinstalling the app, even phone
rebooting / restarting the server
nothing worked
I used to ignore It, but now It’s very annoying. I’ve tried using plexamp, which is fine, but I do like the louder output from Plex and I don’t use any more plexamp’s features like sync, visualiser, etc. and having movies, pictures and music in one app is good.
When I’m away, the android app is better at caching than the native windows app, so I am emulating android with plex installed, but the bugs also happen in the emulator.
If anyone can suggest me a possible fix, or is It just bad HW (SSD upgrade,…) that would be real nice.
The server is Windows 10 based pc
4-core Pentium, 8GB RAM
1TB HDD for OS and plex data (the server is around 100gb)
4TB HDD for media content (2TB music, ~270 000 songs, ~350 000 files + some movies)
*the bugs were happening even when i had like 1/10th of the content, so i guess the size doesnt matter.

Server Version#: 1.22.0.4163
Player Version#: 8.14.1.2358
*note: this isn’t a version specific issue and I’m always using the latest.
Thank you for posting this.I got exactly the same issue with the Android TV App on the Shield.
Everything is up to date.I have installed the server on different machines and tried only a few albums oder at least 2000.It dont matter.Everything is perfectly tagged and matched.
For me this is a client or app issue.Plexamp runs on my desktop without issues and it is a lot of fun even with the basic controls.I also like the phone version. But for the big screen the plex app is the only way to go so i think this should be fixed asap.
I can also provide logs if someone needs more informations.
Experiencing similar issues on the Nvidia shield regardless of version. Everyhting works except plex music. Skipping tracks on the list, crashing randomly.

Dear Plex team, this topic has been here for 2 months. No answer from your side. I think it’s great that you bring out a lot of updates, really good job. But shouldn’t you first fix the bugs before bringing out new features? This thing should be reconsidered, please.
Unfortunately, the error is still present on all Android platforms, even after yesterday’s update on

Hey people is that really your serious Plex ??? Are you changing something in the design and leaving the old bugs open? No answer here in the forum. Cash in and then you don’t care about the customers. Too bad
I am running Version 1.24.1.4931 on the plex server. The issue seems to happen with my android phone, Samsung S21 5g Ultra.
I connect to my vehicles stereo via bluetooth, also the same for my company car with the same results.
These issues are also happening with music that is downloaded to the phone via plex and then played offline. It is definitely an app issue. This also occurred using my old Pixel 2xl in both vehicles and also using the offline capability.
removing battery optimization for the app is working for me. I’ve played 5 songs with no issue. Therefore the issue is most likely to be with the android phone and not the app itself. Why no one from Plex seems to have a clue is beyond me. I figured this out with about an hour of troubleshooting and some basic logic and reasoning.
