Player Version#:

Went on vacation this weekend was looking forward to playing music playlists in Plex while I was traveling. Music would just stop playing at random. Plex stopped responding. Had to force stop. This happened at least a dozen times this weekend. Please fix this ASAP the app is unusable!!!

Reinstalled the app last night and today I had the same problem - in the middle of a song it just stopped. Plex support please respond!

Attached is the debugging log

Updated server software to latest version last night. Problem still exists.

C’mon Plex investigate this is beyond ridiculous!!!

According to your log, the app lost the connection to the server, so it was just sitting there waiting for more data.

Can you recreate the issue and provide me both the android log and your PMS log.

Using a Pixel 2XL, will not load my server until I switch to a friends server then back again. 7.21.0.12255Plex Log.txt (1.1 MB)

At this point I’m inclined to believe that the problem is with VZ wireless. I can stream all day from work on my desktop and the last 12 hours or so I’ve been streaming to my phone without issue over WiFi.

I can stream Spotify just fine over VZ wireless. So I would believe another issue is that the Plex Android app still cannot stream at a lower bitrate and much of my music is in lossless format and being direct play.

I’m on AT&T and have this issue. The app has definitely decreased in quality since 7.20. Try downgrading to 7.19 and see if this same issue occurs. 7.19 appears to be far more stable than 7.20 and later for me.

I have no idea how to downgrade to ver 7.19. All my downloads are through the Google Play store.

I don’t see this issue in your log. All the connection tests to your server appear to be fine.

Can you try the following then get me logs?

  • force stop the app
  • start app
  • take screenshot showing your server unavailable (I assume you mean the hubs show as unavailable)
  • switch to your friend (I assume you are switching by picking a library from your friend)
  • switch back to your server
  • new screenshot showing the server ow available
  • grab logs

upload log and the screenshots

I’ve done that in this log I sent. Also it’s duplicating my server every time I launch the app. This app is going bananas.

@vectorgamer you can just google Android Plex APK and look for 7.19. Basically anything prior to 7.20 and turn off auto update in the google play store for this app.

A fix for that was just released in the latest beta. Not sure if that is related to this other issue, but worth a try.

I’m having an issue where the Android app stops playing music after each song in a playlist. I have to manually skip to the next track after a song finishes.

Is that similar to your issue?

Issue occurred again today. Only this time it stopped playing during a song I purchased from iTunes (i.e. non-ALAC file) so it’s not like it was a large file. Just curious why this is all the sudden now happening? And why does the Plex app stop responding when this happens? I immediately fire up Spotify when this happens and it has no problems streaming.

Was this an old purchase? iTunes use to put DRM on their music files. The app will not play these so it will stop if it runs into these types of files.

music playback also not working for me anymore… it shows waveform and cover pics of track, but it is stuck and no more progressing. restarting my phone helps for a short period… omg, they crashed it again :frowning:

All my iTunes in my Plex music library is DRM-free

Updated the Android app yesterday will test the next few days

Test concluded today. Was streaming an MP3 file and it just stopped. Closed out of Plex and Spotify started streaming no problem. This has to be another bug.

android app doesnt work for me either.
