Audio sync issues using Web player

Recently I have been noticing audio sync issues when playing videos on windows using the web browser. It seems to be both with chrome and with edge. However everything works fine playing on all other platforms. Including using the Windows 10 AppStore app. Does anyone know why this might have starting happening recently?

I notice it using FFox. I often just skip 30 seconds and it syncs again. Sometimes going back 10 seconds syncs it too. Nut yep a problem. BTW I upgraded to FF v57 recently. PLEX seems to play nicer in gerneral using the web interface with the new method FFOX works…individual threads per tab.

Yeah skipping ahead or stopping and restarting both work temporarily, then 5-10 minutes later things are out of sync again.

im still on v1.9.4 so maybe why it works usually for me but yep Plex has a bit of bugs to fix hopefully soon to stabilize all these issues. New functions are of no use if the basic stuff is unreliable!

Same here, had to move to plex web when they got rid of the chrome extension which worked perfectly for years. Now I have nothing but audio sync issues running the latest 1.10.1.4602.

Is there a trouble ticket open for this issue yet? Currently having the same issue in Chrome (version 63.0.3239.132)

I have the same/similar problem. Whenever I’m in fullscreen my audio slowly drifts more and more out of sync. Whenever I exit fullscreen the audio goes back into sync again.

Same issues here. Since the past few updates I seem to be experiencing more and more audio sync issues. I can change the quality and it will resync the audio for a short amount of time. Seems to mainly happen midway through the show I am trying to watch. It would be nice if there were some method of support reply on how we can troubleshoot the issues.

Is this for all media? A sample that shows this issue, with details of your OS/browser would be great. Ta!

Have/Had the same issues. Chrome (Version 64.0.3282.140 (Official Build) (64-bit)). Any video from my library. Seems to happen with firefox too. Audio would drift more and more out of sync (delayed). Pausing, or skipping would re-sync the audio briefly before it started drifting again. I updated chrome to the above build, and now it doesn’t drift, but it has artifact noises constantly like it’s trying to drift and then being forced back. Super annoying to listen to.

I seem to be having sound issues in general these days. Youtube freaks out with the same audio artifacts as it tries to de-sync and then is forced back. Seems to only be on my laptop though (windows 10 64 bit). Plex app on a nexus player works fine. Plex on a PS4 works fine.

i’m getting this issue specifically when trying to play back hevc video. Same video plays perfect on my xbox one s in my living room. i use an old laptop in my bedroom that started having this issue a few months back. I also noticed that i no longer can play back the “original” version in the web browser. So i’m curious if the lag is coming from my pc encoding.

Adding myself to the list. OS X on Safari 10.1.2. Seems to work correctly in Chrome though.

A sample would be much appreciated! https://support.plex.tv/articles/201035968-generating-sample-files-from-media/

Also have this issue. If I pause for a bit and start playing again it syncs back up but then slowly drifts out of sync again. Gets maybe a second or so out of sync at the worst, but maybe would get worse if I played longer stuff.

Old posts, but I’m having this issue with web player. Same file plays fine via VLC. MP4 file. Sounds like this problem’s been around for a while.

I have the same problem on Windows 10. Windows Plex App works fine, but playing in Chrome its about 1 second out of sync most of the time.
