Hi I was wondering if anyone is still experiencing audio sync issues still. I am running the latest PLEX server, player and iOS player. Seems to me that it happened more so on mp4 and avi files. Sometimes my Mac player is out of Sync but my ios is not or the other way around. As for logs, I don’t know how or where to get them or where to post them. Wondering if anyone is having these issues as well. Thank you
Hi. I'm running Plex on a brand new Mac Mini 2012, i7 2.7GHz, 16GB RAM, SSD after retiring my 2009 and was hoping all the audio sync stuff would settle. All files are on external WD 4TB external HDD connected via Firewire 800. Still doing it I'm afraid. Some SD stuff is in sync, some isn't. No rhyme or reason as far as I can tell. Using HDMI. tried settings for hardware acceleration, audio sync and matching frame rates to no avail. No audio sync issues accessing same files with VLC.
I’m also having audio sync issues. This has persisted for awhile. Should I downgrade PMS again perhaps? I’ve got 0.9.6.6 which seemed to have worked well.
I too have audio sync issues - for me it is mainly my .avi files - using the Audio Offset helps but would really like my media to play correctly
Should mention I’ve used Plex for 3 almost 4 years now and the files were not always out of sync - so I do think this is app related not media
wanted to note - i have used the new Plex/Web play function and the sync issues i note on my .AVI files are not present - so the audio sync issue seems to be player related
I can second that. Also, the sync issue are persistant meaning if I quit the player and come back, the sync issues stay. Even if I switch to another player. However, as dekinseattle says, sync issues don’t exist on the web player. Yay web player!
Does the Plex team ever address any of these issues in the forum? The last post on this was November 6th, and this problem is still occuring. Their media player is useless when it can’t sync audio. We KNOW it’s the player as every other player works fine, including Plex Web player. This issue is exclusive to Plex Client.
Can we at least get acknowledgement from the Plex team that they understand this is an issue and are working to resolve it? Do you even have it documented as an issue? If so what is the current status on it and how can we get more reliable updates than once a month.
This isn’t a feature request form users, it’s a bug that is rendering your software UNUSABLE.
Greater engagement and concern from the Devs/Community Relations managers would go a LONG WAY!
They have acknowledged in previous threads that they are aware of the problem, but there hasn't been any resolution to the issue since they couldn't duplicate it. And for the record, I'm still having audio sync issues with my .avi files (approx. -2.25 seconds). Fortunately, much of the newer media I'm adding to my library is encoded as .mp4 or .mkv files now, but it's still frustrating to have to set the audio offset when I want to watch of my older movies or shows.
Thank you for the response. If they're going to pretend that all of us in this thread and the many other audio sync issue threads are "unable to be reproduced" then it sounds like I need to go back to XBMC or something.
Splashtop Filehound looks like a great alternative, since it allows file transfers of ALL files on the PC to your iOS devices or Android. Combined with a native iOS player like GPlayer or whatever you fancy, it could fill the gap that Plex was going to. Now to just request a refund from Apple
Again, thanks for the heads up. I'll check back on plex in 6 months or so and see if they've gotten their act together.
P.S. anybody who needs a media player will find that KM Player, VLC, XBMC, and PotPlayer are all great alternatives with no problems, or even Plex Web player (that works too ironically enough).
To insinuate that they are "pretending" that they cannot reproduce the issue just seems like an unnecessary and vicious attack agains those working hard on Plex. I'm sure they can survive without having you as a user.
As a developer myself, it's really really difficult to fix a bug that you can't reproduce unless there's something very obvious in the code on inspection.
I’m also having audio sync issues. This has persisted for awhile.
I am also having a/v sync issue. Seems to be AVI files and sync offset: -325 msec fixes it. Same files played in plex webplayer or with plex ios app are perfect! And same files played on same mac with vlc are perfectly synced. So I agree it’s a player issue!
As a PlexPass member I recently downloaded the new Plex/HT option - this new player option has assisted greatly with the Audio Sync issues I was noting.
I had some AVI files that were out of sync by 175 ms or 350 ms - the Plex/HT player has improved this to where for a few AVI files I may need to adjust the audio a bit for the files that were previously the most out of sync
I do continue to note that no files are out of sync audio-wise when played via the Media Manager - so I know it is not the file
but at least there does seem to be movement on this issue which is refreshing!!!
I want to note here that* *as most of us have discussed, the files are *not* out of sync. Somehow the player gets them out of sync in a persistent state across all players *except* for the web player. Opening and closing the players has no effect.
agree it is not a file issue - the files are all fine - the Plex player was definitely causing the out of sync issue
the new Plex/HT player option has worked out to be a great fix for the audio sync issue I experienced - the devs behind this new viewer option deserve acknowledgment
I was watching a movie last night on plex via my ATV2 and after about 15 minutes you could notice a sync issue.
The sound was behind the film.
If I stopped the film, went back into the movies menu then replayed it from where it left off it would sync fine for another period of time.
I’m also experiencing bad audio/sync issues on PHT. Exists on mp4, mkv, and avi files.
Even the “click” sounds as you scroll through menu items are off by about a second or so.
I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it with the same problems.
“Regular” Plex, and VLC have no issues.
Ideas?
Solved it - so in preferences->System->Audio Output,
Audio Output Device was on AirPlay. I changed it to Built in Output.
I also changed Audio Output to Optical Coax (mac mini). Everything working good now.
interesting. I wonder if this would solve the issues for the rest of us.
This issue was driving me mad over xmas as was trying to sort everything out on my new mac mini…everything was perfect except sd content (avi’s)…but just like dekinseattle said above, the Plex Home Theatre update (Plex Pass only at the mo…unless it’s been released to all in the last week) has fixed this issue. Credit to those for fixing
