Auidio sync issues in chrome (only?)

Server Version#: 1.16.2.1321
Player Version#: 3.108.2

the wife has been noticing that her audio is not synced with the video. i keep checking the video files she is watching, the source is fine. i can play it on multiple players, various different ways and the audio/video is in sync. so the source file is not the problem here.

so i move onto plex, check the dashboard. audio and video are being direct streamed. there is no transcoding taking place… moving onto the player side of things…

i use firefox, wife uses chrome… i open up the video in plex for firefox and show her, no issues. the audio is synced just fine. she logs in (same user), plays the same file in chrome and immediately the audio is not synced with the video.

so, at that point, it seems to be either chrome, or her computer. i proceed to download plex player for windows 10, install that and playing the same video there are no problems.

in short, the culprit seems to be chrome. this is not 1 single file, it is not 1 single series, it is throughout the entire library. as an temporary solution, she can use the plex player here at the house (local to the plex server) and use firefox at work (not local, obviously) but… a fix would seem like the proper solution here.

can anyone shed any light on what the issue might be? is there some settings on the server/client that i might be able to tweak something? is this a known issue?

thanks

so, does anyone know if this is a chrome problem or a plex problem?

awesome…

bump.

Use the new Plex for Windows player and see if this problem vanishes.

Watching stuff in browsers, any, is bad medicine.

If, for some reason using a proper player app is impossible, see if hardware encoding is enabled in chrome, and if so disable it (and vice-versa). May help. May not.

thanks for that, i’ll have her check hardware acceleration in chrome when she goes into work tomorrow, and have her disable that to test and see if audio is still desynced from video.

i understand the browser vs player (Desktop app) and thats what we use here at the house, but i dont know that the IT dept at her work would install the plex app for her there, which is why she uses the browser.

thanks again!

That would be a reason to have to use the web app.
Finger’s crossed.

Oh, and check the player settings in the web app. Make sure they do everything they can to Direct Play the material. Remote Quality being a big one. If you can get that stuff there at it’s original bit rate, that would be best I think.
