Had to newly reinstall plex app on my Ugoos android box from the playstore. When I try to play On Demand movies I get this error Audio: Track init failed. The prior version that was running on the box was working just fine for years, this version looks different. Even when trying to play my own movies fail.
If I logout and back into the plex app, my own movies play just fine, but trying to play any On Demand movies if fails with this error or if I go back to play a prior playable my movie, it fails again.
I just verified on my LG tv the Plex for LG app works fine there and the look is what I am familiar with, it having the Movies & Tv rather than the On Demand option. So could be I have the wrong plex for android version on it?
The Ugoos Android box is giving you the mobile app for some reason. It really should not be doing that. The mobile Plex app has been migrated the “new” experience and it is only intended for Android mobile right now.
Android TV boxes should still be using the TV version of the app, which has not yet been migrated. That’s why your versions look and feel different.
You need to find out why Ugoos’ Play Store is giving you the mobile version. It’s simply not ready for TV.
The app I have on the Ugoos box came from the Google playstore when I search for Plex for Android and it was the app listed to download. I should try the Firestick plex version that runs on adroid, I believe along while ago I used that on Firesticks and looks the same as what I have on my LG tv.
That’s my point. For some reason, it’s giving you the mobile version of the app. It should not be offering that. There are two distinct versions right now: The TV version and the mobile version. The Play Store is giving you the wrong version, for whatever reason.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few cheap Android streaming boxes which don’t adhere to the design guides of “Android TV”.
It is possible that doing so would entail additional restrictions or, developer effort for the manufacturer.
So some boxes don’t identify themselves properly to the Google Play Store.
