I have a ton of audiobooks which I now want to include in plex.
This is how they are structured:
J. K. Rowling/Harry Potter and the stone(…)/CD1/audiofiles.mp3
J. K. Rowling/Harry Potter and the chamber(…)/CD1/audiofiles.mp3
Sebastian Fitzek/Das Kind/audiofiles.mp3
Sebastian Fitzek/Abgeschnitten/audiofiles.mp3
This is how I set the Tags:
Audio Artist: Harry Potter
Album: and the stone of secrets
Now: What to I need to set up in Plex to have the Audiobooks? Currently there is only the option for Movies, Series and Music. I’d put that in the Music Folder but i guess I need a plugin that everything works?
I have mine in a music folder using the “Personal Media Artist” agent. This will read them all in based on tags/folder structure. You then have to manually add the metadata since Plex doesn’t support audiobooks it won’t go out and fetch the info like it does for Movies, TV, and Music.

Well technically it worked out very good! Thanks so far BUT:
Plex is not putting for example the Harry Potter Books in one Folder like “Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets”, “Harry Potter and the prisoner of azkaban” but in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets CD1”, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets CD2” etc.
I double checked the Tags. the Only thing i filled is:
Filename: Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets - Track 01 - 999
Titlenumber: 1 - 999
Titel: Harry Potter and the chamber of Secrets
Interpret: Joanne K. Rowling
Album: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Joanne K. Rowling
everything else is EMPTY.
The same way works with books from the Author Sebastian Fitzek perfectly. Every book in its own folder without CD1 CD2 seperations
Do you by chance have the files in separate folders with those names? In the settings for the library, there is a “Use Embedded Tags” setting, might want to make sure that is turned on as well.
After fixing the above, move them out of your library, rescan, empty trash, add the files back, and rescan again to make sure you are starting fresh with adding them to the database.
