Auto-detect filesystem changes over CIFS | Linux/Ubuntu

Hi,

I recently moved my PMS from a QNAP over to another machine, running Linux (Ubuntu). My media files are still on the QNAP, mounted on the Linux box using CIFS vfs.

Is it possible to auto-detect file system changes over CIFS somehow, so media files get added immediately?

Thanks

No.

CIFS, NFS, none of them support server-side notification of file changes to clients.

CIFS emulates it on Windows by polling

Being on Linux now, use NFS for best performance.

I am entirely Linux here.

I set “Partial scan” and “Period scan” for the library.

PMS rips through my media once every 15 minutes.

If you want it immediately, manually kick off a scan.
