I have a rather large library and when new content is added, Plex always scans the entire library and then picks up what was added, rather than just what was added. It would be nice to have it that way, so it does not spend 15- 20 - 30 mins scanning.
There is an option under settings and library
“Run a partial scan when changes are detected”
This should do what you are requesting.
I have tried that, apparently with NFS it does not work. It works with local storage but not NFS.
Early 2021 clean-up: implemented (basic functionality available from within Plex → Run a partial scan when changes are detected; depends on OS-level events to alert Plex of a change – this can work for NFS folders depending on the underlying platform and configuration of NFS server and OS)
