Auto Quality doesn’t work on iOs

Whenever I start a movie on quality: Auto,
The quality does not adjust to my network speed, instead it always plays on the max bitrate. If the WiFi/ network speed is not fast enough I get an error.
The server does not adjust the quality.
What could I be missing here?
