I’m wondering if anyone can help with this. Most of the time I play my media using Direct Play where possible, but when out and about on mobile, due to the varying nature of mobile bandwidth, I’d like to make use of the Auto Adjust Quality feature, but I’m finding that it does absolutely nothing (but used to work for me in the past, although the last time I had it working was a couple of years ago when I needed it).
In my past experience, if I switched Auto Adjust on and set a low initial target of say 320p, after a short time, if that bandwidth was sufficient, it would start to step up the quality and I would often get 1080p. This no longer happens. All that happens is that the video will stick at whatever default quality I have set and never change. The result of this is that if I set a low initial quality, it remains at a poor quality, or, if I set the initial quality much higher, if I don’t have sufficient bandwidth, it’ll constantly buffer and never reduce the quality to componsate.
I have tested this out on a local wired connection on my Apple TV and get the exact same effect. If I set an initial low quality, despite being on a Gigabit ethernet connection, it will never step up that quality. All that ever happens is in the Plex Dashboard, it seems to think my available bandwidth is only 720kbps, which is clearly not the case.
Does anyone have any ideas what I could possibly do to fix this, and/or are others having the same problem?
