Automated commands to Rasplex

Is it possible to send commands to Rasplex from a remote machine to achieve some automated tasks?

E.g. to have a Tasker profile send a command to a Rasplex client to start playing a specific Channel or show whenever a mobile device connects to the same wireless network?

RasPlex has no specific remote batch support, but it does have the ability to receive playback commands from other Plex clients.
That's how you can use the Plex for Android client to choose media for playback on RasPlex, without using the RasPlex GUI.
You can also use that client as a remote control for RasPlex (a mode normally entered after casting some media to it).

These abilities also imply that properly written apps or just scripts on a remote machine can achieve the same effects, but the 'intelligence' for knowing when to trigger these effects would have to be coded on the remote machine, with RasPlex just acting obediently in response to received commands.

Tasker is the kind of app that should have the basic capability for doing such things, though I'm not sure if it or any of its plugins has direct support for the kind of command protocol required to do it right.

In brief: It should be possible, but there's no ready-to-use implementation available. (To my knowledge anyway...)
