When transcoding content that is encoded with the AV1 codec, the resulting video is corrupted.
I’ve come across this issue quite alot lately, and it’s really starting to bug me.
It’s not just Plex Web either, Chromecast, Hisense TV App, Samsung TV App all exhibit the same issue when playing transcoded content from AV1 encoded files.
Playing via Direct Play to Android Phone works fine.
Transcoding is occuring using AMD GPU (Plex refuses to Transcode in CPU, “Not Enough CPU”, on a Ryzen 9 9950X…)
The problem with your AMD is that AMD GPUs are not fully supported yet.
AMD GPUs will work if you manually install all the drivers. ( AMD + libva )
Adding full AMD support is one of the many things we’re doing as part of the transcoder upgrade ( there’s a huge amount of work to do / being done )
While not what you want to hear, AV1 support is already present in PMS and on Intel and Nvidia GPUs. We will get there. I don’t know where AMD is in the list of things to do
Direct mapping disabled: deriving image does not work: 1 (operation failed).
It’s an FFMPEG 4 bug (which is what this transcoder is based on)

I would appreciate you trying it and reporting your results.
