I don’t think they are looking for a new user base, they are simply looking to keep expanding the user base.
we should all remember, they aren’t working for us for free.

make sure you have the latest ios app (check the app store updates). I think you need ios plex 6.5.1 (no idea on tvos).
you should also see it @ https://app.plex.tv/desktop
No indeed. I’m paying them - but not to watch advertising. Mom promised us all she didn’t raise any fools. She PROMISED!
no ads on my content.
AVOD is not a Plex Pass feature, so you are not paying for these.
Also remember that we’ve had ads in News and Webshows since those were introduced too. This is not a brand new concept.
The support article lists supported platforms and app versions:
There is NO Plex Pass feature I’m paying for - other than being a paying Beta Tester for Live TV and DVR, and I’m continuing to pay Channels for DVR as well - so… I may have a talk with Mom about her promise next time I visit her resting place. Some “Fool” may have slipped in when no one was looking…lol
I turned off that other Plex stuff before I finished reading the introductory threads when it went live. I’ll turn this new thing off as well, but really - with Plex’s unique ability to double-space my side bar - TV and Movies is so far down the list I can’t even see it.
Nice work.
When is this coming to Samsung client?
hah, yes they still need to remove some of that spacing.
but that is a whole different thread.
On Synology NAS DS215j, latest update, I can’t see the new online source.
Any idea how to fix this, or should I wait for a new update?
It has nothing to do with the server version. You need to use the hosted web app app.plex.tv or any of the app versions listed in here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/video-on-demand-overview/
I guess I’m used to watching OTA TV. I experience far more ads than that in 30 minutes.
To add: This was with Escape from New York. I wonder how the algorithm works? Is it based on the movie, the provider?
"## Local Plex Web App
Your Plex Media Server comes with a local copy of Plex Web App bundled in, which is accessible on your local network if desired. Newer versions of the web app will be included with new Plex Media Server releases. The version “bundled” with Plex Media Server will, by necessity, typically lag behind the hosted version. We recommend using the hosted version to make sure you’re using the latest app."
If you are using the current local Plex Web App the version is Version 4.8.4.
Plex Web App (v4.14 or newer) is required to see the new streaming service.
The version on app.plex.tv is Version 4.16.2 which is why if you log into that you can see it but not on your local version.
This caused me a lot of confusion but I finally figured out why it wasn’t showing up on my local copy of the web app.
Kinda funny, but was looking around and saw Earth: Final Conflict. They better use Filebot, to change those “scene” names, cause all 5 seasons say they’re season 1…

I don’t have it either. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled Plex for Windows. Logged out and logged back in and still nothing. It appears that there is a major problem with this roll out.
It’s not yet supported on desktop apps other than the web client. Here are the supported platforms:
Problem on LG TV (app version 4.15): the AVOD section shows on the home page, but the app cannot find any content. My personal libraries show up fine, and the AVOD content shows up fine on a Roku Ultra.
I don’t use the web client as it won’t play anything without buffering. Its basically a waste. I guess I’ll just have to wait until they update the desktop app.
Or you can use the web client (https://app.plex.tv/desktop) just for VOD content. Or just wait, it’s up to you
