It looks like Plex is very specific in the Models of tuners that it supports. The AverMedia USB stick I have is the same, but missing the Q in the model number.
Interestingly enough, if I go to the Plex Tuner Service.log, it looks like it sees my tuner, so hopefully it can be supported in the future so I don’t have to buy any additional hardware.

You’ve got me curious now. My WHS machine is running PMS and has 2 x dual tuner cards (AverMedia TwinStar cards not on the supported cards list) in it running with DVBLink. I might fire up the Plex DVR functionality and check the logs to see if they too appear. Like you, I’m not too keen to buy additional hardware. My current tuners work great. I’m not sure why the support is so specific. No doubt there are very valid technical reasons. I’ve used a range of WinPC based TV solutions (e.g. WMC, DVBLink, MediaPortal) over the years and, provided drivers were available for the OS, I’ve never had any issue getting them to work. Fingers crossed that’s where we end up with Plex DVR.
We’re trying to support tuners across a broad range of platforms, and not all BDA-based tuners show up the same. We will be actively working on adding more as quick as we can.

That’s encouraging news, keithah. It’s the last piece of the puzzle for our house before we cut over to 100% Plex. Right now, it’s still a combo of DVBLink/WMC for live/recorded FTA TV and Plex for everything else. It works ok but has its quirks and reliability issues. I look forward to having a monogamous relationship with Plex some day.
My tuner, AVerMedia H826 Hybrid TV BDA Tuner, is found but shows no stations when scanned. It functions exceedingly well using NextPVR and it is not clear to me how I can overcome this difference. You may well assume I know little about this but I fail to understand how it can work well with NextPVR but fail to work with Plex.
Me2 - having the exact same problem. My USB tuner (AVerMedia H826 Hybrid TV BDA Tuner) works fine outside of Plex and plays nice with other tuners under WMC but I can’t for the life of me get it find channels under Plex. I’ve uninstalled WMC, installed and reinstalled the driver all to no avail. Any clues?
