AVI files fail to transcode after migrating to new Mac — worked previously

Server: Mac Mini M4, macOS Tahoe 26.3.1
Plex Media Server: 1.43.0.10492-121068a07
Plex Web Player: 4.156.0
Client: Plex Web / Chrome

I recently migrated my Plex Media Server to a new Mac and AVI files that previously played without issue are no longer working. The files were provided by a third party who converted home videos and I have no ability to re-convert or remux them. I need Plex to be able to play them as-is, as it did before.

Update: I tested playback using the Plex desktop app for Mac and the files play perfectly via direct play. This confirms the files themselves are not corrupt. But they are still unable to be played through Plex web or iOS devices.

Has anyone found a way to get Plex’s transcoder to handle this codec without converting or remuxing the original files? It played fine on my previous Mac and was previously able to be played on my Apple TV / iOS.

What does “not working” mean? Is there an error message on screen when attempting playback?

Please do the following;

  1. Confirm server DEBUG logging is enabled, VERBOSE logging is disabled.
    SAVE if changes.
  2. Restart PMS
  3. Give it two minutes to start and stabilize
  4. Start a playback which shows the issue
  5. Let it play for 20 seconds
  6. Stop the playback
  7. Download the server logs
  8. Attach the entire zip of your logs so I may see them

Thanks for your offer to help!

“not working” means the file never plays on the Plex Server. Just hangs with the spinning circle.

Attached are the server logs. Really hoping to get this issue resolved. Thanks!
