I realize there are much bigger fish to fry in the new apps, but it is obvious another problem is lurking and I would like to make my Plex library pop in these new apps.
What background should I choose??? The backgrounds are the main focus in these new apps.
The inconsistency with the mobile apps chopping off the left and right sides compared to the new Roku app chopping off the left side. I hate anything being chopped/faded, but I understand the need at times. However, you are placing us admins in the position of trying to find those just right backgrounds that fit both. I left wishing I could pick different backgrounds for different apps.
Currently, because of the new mobile apps, I have to usually find backgrounds on older movies that have the actors’ heads either paired up as a couple or lined up almost vertically. Newer movies tend to offer posters that are more centralized (Marvel is best at this). But, older (classic) movies tend to only offer screenshots of the movie itself and those scenes tend to be lovey-dovey or spread the scene across the entire frame. The classic 4:3 ratio makes it all the worse because someone usually took the 4:3 and chopped it for 16:9, and now Plex chops that again down to 4:3…ack!
IMO, I still think moving the new mobile apps to use the entire background would be best but I realize that isn’t getting traction because Plex, Inc. wants HUGE images filling the screen.
So, here I am left with hundreds of background to manage and probably will need to make many of my own for the classics.
