I don’t understand why the backgrounds are still missing. This was one of the reasons that Plex stand apart from all the others.
It’s impossible to understand the reasoning for not displaying the backgrounds. Plex is determined we don’t want them displayed, and that we absolutely love the blurry mess that is our only option in most apps. Yet they still give us the option to change backgrounds, add our own, and download a huge selection each time we add media to our server.
Cmon, Plex. Backgounds are important to a lot of us!
I also really miss the backgrounds. So far I like the new update, but the lack of backgrounds is my one major complaint.
+1 here. I really miss the backgrounds and don’t understand the point of having the blurry mess forced upon us. I will say that I like the introduction of video preview when skipping. LG WebOS has the backgrounds and have had video preview for a while. I was forced to go to Roku though because I wanted the local channels integrated via AirTV. PLEASE Plex, give us the option for high quality backgrounds!
Putting in my vote for backgrounds. The way they look in Plex Web is great, not sure why they can’t mimic that design…
Have to disagree…
That would be the worst implementation possible. The image is cropped and it knocks down all of the important info for the movie so you have to scroll. The truth is, you need to disable the artwork in order to make the web app usable (in my opinion)
I think that method was a quick fix before quitting time one Friday night to try and shut up those of us that wanted backgrounds displayed. Plex Retro for the Roku had it right, as did all of the apps before Plex decided blurry mess is the best.
It’s kinda like the category first thing that the tried to hang onto, hoping we would eventually give in and accept it. Give us the option to display our backgrounds, like we used to. Those that like the blur can use it, those that don’t will have the opportunity to see the artwork.
I guess the scrolling doesn’t bother me in the web app. Probably would bother me in the Roku interface though, I agree. Not sure what the reluctance is from the developers to add the background images back in.
