Organising a huge Plex library takes time and care after years of building/archiving. If an error or serious problem arises it is difficult to restore a backup as you cannot simply restore registry settings if not backed up manually.
-
To create a backup database where Plex creates a compressed (or split compressed) archive including settings and registry files without the end user to manually backup each database and simply upload/restore if user requires
-
If user is switching to a different OS (ie Windows to Mac or Linux GUI) conversion is done behind the scenes when user restores backup, also a dialogue box should appear asking other information such as destination drives and other OS particular changes.
-
Ask user which library’s they wish to restore instead of all versions
-
Include progress bar and time when backing up and restoring as the longer advanced/manual situation can take a long time to duplicate the database.
This way it will make it more user friendly and can allow people to change/upgrade their servers with simplicity and peace of mind.
(If you’re interested in my circumstances I would like to in the future possibly go from my Windows Server custom built system to a Mac Silicon device using external HDDs for media and for my dad Windows PC to Mac Silicon)
