Backup of Plex Media Server Folder fails on Mac with Error Code -36

Server Version#: 1.27.0.5889
Mac OS: OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.5

I am attempting to make a copy of the PLEX MEDIA SERVER folder located on my MacBook Air to an external drive for backup purposes. Everytime I try to do this I recieve the following
The finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “3204c7784dde1b6cd1356a1d29cd4536d76acb4.bundle” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)

The folder Size: 13,983,443,483 bytes (15.08 GB on disk) for 28,678 items

It copies 605,013,045 bytes (634.1MB on disk) for 2,027 items when I get the Error Code.

Have tried multiple times to an ExFAT drive as well as a MAC formatted drive. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Sounds like you might have an issue with the hard drive that stores the plex data.

Any recommendations?

I would use the terminal to copy as much as you can. something like cp -R <source_path> <target_path> then something like https://www.howtogeek.com/236978/how-to-repair-disk-and-file-system-problems-on-your-mac/

Are you doing this while Plex is running? It could just be a permission issue and the file(s) causing the error is in use by PMS at the time so it can’t be copied.

Try doing this with PMS turned off.

Yes. I did turn off the PMS but still have the same problem. Have tried multiple times.

That error is an OS level error so something might be going bad on your drive. You can also try zipping the entire folder, instead of a straight copy. That should ignore any bad files.
