Backup of Plex settings

I’ve recently experienced a nasty hardware failure; power supply failed, and apparently took the motherboard/CPU and all 3 hard drives with it.
I didn’t lose any other data or recorded content in libraries, I know where that is and had it backed up with a cron job to an external storage location.

But I lost all the server settings, programs to record and such.

The docs ( https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/ ) indicate /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/ as the location. So, I’ve added /var/lib/plexmediaserver/ to my backup cron job; will be backed up daily along with everything else.

Is there any other location I should back up? My goal is in future rebuilds/crashes/etc to just re-install Plex and then restore that directory from backup. Theoretically, if that’s the only location, I should recover everything.

Are there any other bits and pieces I need to back up?

This is Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and the most recent public channel server release.

Thanks in advance.

That’s about it – you can skip the Caches and Logs subfolders. Make sure your server is stopped when backing this folder up. Otherwise you’re at risk of ending up with a corrupted database backup.

Keep in mind your server will automatically create a backup of your database as part of the scheduled tasks (if enabled). Sometimes it could be enough to backup those files…
