Since Plex does not have built in back and restore options for your library settings, every time the Plex server has to be reset, reinstalled, cache/data cleared, etc… it is like starting from new. What is everyone using for backing up and restoring Plex server?
My server is running on a Shield TV.
Someone smarter will provide a more thorough answer, but in the meantime…
The databases are saved in “/[varies]/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases/”.
The main settings are saved in “/[varies]/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml”
Backup both of those. Then if you need to reset, reinstall, whatever, you put them back into those locations and restart the server. It should, in theory, come back to where it was. Though, when I’ve refreshed my server, I preferred, as painful as it was, to let it rebuild the Libraries on its own so I knew there wasn’t any bloat in the database left over from before.
