What is the purpose of basic_movie_info.nfo files in the Movie folders?

Opening them is showing http://www.imdb.com/title/ with a IMDB tt number

Plex does not support .nfo files.

Possibly created by a media tool (Tiny Media Manager, FileBot, etc.) or by another streaming app (Kodi, etc.).?

The deprecated agents were able to read the IMDb ID from these, to force matching.

In the modern agent, this has been replaced with the ID in the file/folder name method.
