BBC Documentaries - How To Add One Offs

I’ve read all the posts on the forum touching on this but I cannot find a way to add BBC Documentaries to plex where it will pick up the metadata from thevdb.com? I’v

To be clear I am talking about one off BBC documentaries as covered here. Other BBC series pick up fine but I have about 100 one offs!

thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=79660&lid=7

For example I had it setup in Kodi and it worked perfectly with the following structure (and all other shows on Plex are working with this format):

TV Shows/BBC Documentaries/Season 2016/S2016E278 - Britain’s Star Men.mp4

It will show up in plex but not with any metadata or posters. I have tried with or without season folders, with and without spacing between the season and episode in the filename, with and without the title in the file.

I think there is some confusion coming in as the files themselves have metadata stored in them which its picking up. Is there a way to configure the agents not to use local info? I only stumbled on this as I was following another thread on here forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1205792#Comment_1205792 where they showed an example of it working with a set naming convention and out of frustration I tried it myself renaming the above file as this other show that was picked up but plex still identified it as Britain’s Star Men.

Finally answered my own question.

Keeping the naming convention and directory structure I first had is fine. The trick is forcing plex to use the correct tvdb.com title.

Reordering the agents to put local information last does not work. Plex will still not match up the files correctly.

Eventually found this to work. Login to the web server view and choose TV Shows from left hand menu and choose BBC Documentaries. Click on the three dots more menu on the left and choose match. Now there is an option I missed originally on this screen called auto match. Choose TheTVdb from the list. Under search options change the title to BBC Documentaries. Also importantly I noticed this STILL WOULD NOT find it. Not until I also entered the year of 1936 being the first season listed on thetvdb.com. It finally then matched up correctly.

Hope this helps someone.
