I have been attempting to use the BBC iPlayer tv channel through my plexconnect on ATV3. The picture and sound are perfect but it seems to take an age to buffer. Even if I leave for 5 mins and play something it will catch up within 2 minutes and pause. Also, the search feature doesn’t seem to work?
Any ideas on settings I can alter to enable it to buffer faster?
Many thanks
Not to worry, found the settings and am now at 720p @ 8.0 mbs. Although my connection is pretty fast, thought it would definitely handle 1080p?
Also, will this have an effect on my library content, i.e. content that is full HD 1080p, will this still be broadcast as 1080p or do I have to keep changing settings every time I go between iPlayer and my content? I ask this as I had no issues playing my content on the 1080p 40 mbs setting.
There used to be two quality settings - one for local, one for remote servers...

Is this setting within the app or is it the main plex connect setting on the ATV? Having the same problem but changing plex connect settings seems to make no difference.

Are both these settings still available? Would this have to be done on my server/Mac or on the ATV itself?

These settings were within the app on the ATV3, when you first load trailers, head over to the right and you'll see a settings tab. Made quite a difference for me with no noticeable picture loss. What I don't understand is when I play a movie trailer from the home screen, these buffer with no issues and are picture and sound perfect.
Channels have far more variables in play at any given moment. You are streaming from the internet, for example, rather than from your local network. I find the the BBC stream is sometimes good and sometimes so so even when using the BBC iPlayer app on iOS. Probably has to do with the BBCs own server load.

I understand your point, I will try it again later see if I have the same issues. Once I had downgraded the transcoder settings all seemed to be well :).
On a side note, I updated the BBC iPlayer app on my iPad at the weekend and now it won't stream to my Apple TV?! Wonder if you are having the same issues?
Also any ideas on why I can't search on the PlexConnect iPlayer TV Channel?

I believe the BBC tend to use Cisco (?) devices at UK ISP's to cache content and serve it directly from across the major UK ISP's networks to end users; iPlayer was and probably still is a fairly large proportion of UK internet traffic for domestic users.
If you are actually streaming over the public internet you mileage might vary a bit more.
In reference to the iOS BBC app it is working here, but I have not made the Feb 4 upgrade, and I guess I will hold off for a bit.
And back to the topic of this forum:
As for search, Search does not work in any Channels as that functionality has yet to be built into Plexconnect.

Oh okay, thanks for clearing that up!

Yes, I was kidding...
internal is "transcodequality", remote is "remotebitrate", both in aTV->PlexConnect->Settings.
Only live channels work for me, is it the same for other people?
No, all videos, live and archived are working here.
Hey f00b4r, do you think this thread should be moved into the Plex Channels forum or locked before it encourages other posts about specific channels in the Plexconnect forum?
Hi all,
So i have this working on Plex Connect with on demand items, but none of the live channels work.
Are the live channels currently broken?
Or is there something that needs to be changed/configured specifically in settings etc?
Just tried BBC One, BBC Two and CBBC Live and they work fine for me. Is your iPlayer plugin upto date?

Yes plugin is definitely upto date.
The live works on my iMac and on my iPhone, but won't work on ATV in PlexConnect.
Im in Australia and using unotelly. Do i have to change any further settings or configurations?
I am using Unotelly in Canada and find that the BBCPlayer live feeds are working but the archived material is not playing. I will look into it further when I have time tomorrow.
Still no luck here.
The live stream just results in an instant general unable to playback error.
All catch up streams work perfectly.
Resolved!
Didn't have the Unotelly DNS quite right in the settings.cfg file.
Live channels all working now! :)
Now if only i could find live streams for other UK TV channels.....

tvcatchup.com, although you will have to airplay to the ATV.
