Plexconnect causing buffering on other devices?

Hello all.

 

Spent the whole weekend getting plex connect working with my atv3.

In the end i was very happy with the results.

However, I have since noticed that now when I use my plex apps on other devices the video will buffer every 5-10 seconds regardless of what qualitiy setting im using.

Ipad3 was working flawlessly before installing plex connect and the android (HTC ONE) worked well (once i turned off the direct play option).

The only thing i have changed is installing plex connect, can this cause buffering on other devces?

Is this a know issue???

local media or channels?

Did your PlexConnect setup in some way influence the DNS path for the other devices?

Thanks for the reply.

I am talking about local media. To be honest I have never tried a channel so just gave youtube and bbc i player a go.

Nothing plays as all on i player Error unable to resolve video for playback.

Youtube seems fine but very slow starting a video.

I followed the plex connect tutorial and changed the dns to that of my pc, the one with pmc installed on it.

Cant see how this would clash with my phone / ipad.

Another issue I have noticed is I cannot start a video from the resume option, it just does not load, I have to play from the start each time and if I try to forward wind it does not come back on.

Its definitely behaving like a network issue.

When I reduce the quality below 720p the video file will play without buffering.

However, my point is before installing plex connect I was able to stream full 1080p to my htc one.

Any ideas?

It looks on the face of it that plex connect has really slowed my network.

So shut it down to verify? Will your network speed go up again?

If i shut plex connect i still get buffering.

But the buffering has only started since installing it.

It’s just a coincidence. If Plexconnect is not running how would it affect the reception? I suggest restarting the router, ATV and computer.

I didnt know if it was something to do with the dns settings on the atv?

And how its now using my pc (the one with pms server on) to access the internet.

Didnt know if this could potentially slow down the server or something?

i have reset everything several times and it makes zero differnce.

...unplug aTV to take that out of the game as well?
