Been trying for 2 days now.....

Hey Everyone ,

This is my first post, as much as i hate posting as a newbie to forums for help, I just have no idea what else to do, I've been looking through threads trying different things, and i seem to be worse off than before.

I have:

Apple TV 3 5.1
Macbook Air OS 10.9.1

I've created the certificates, they are loaded onto the apple tv.

I had plex almost running, i could see all my movies, but when i selected one to play it would say "Trailers Unavailable...."

I deleted everything, started fresh, and now i have new problems.

Now when i change the DNS server on the Apple TV to the same as my Macbook, i can't access any other apps, along with trailers, it doesn't show anything at all, just says unavailable, the youtube app doesn't work either.

This is what i see, after i enter the trailers app.

... If I change the ipdns on settings.py from 8.8.8.8 to my ip, I get a syntax error.

If i try to run the setting.py command in terminal two times in a row it doesn't work, i have to reboot and then try again.

As it stands, with my DNS server ip changed on my apple tv, nothing works at all.

If someone could help me out here, i would appreciate it , banging my head against the wall is starting to hurt....

Thanks in advance.

Plus it doesn’t support the navi bar etc, you can always update to 5.2 or higher or use the workaround with an uglier GUI.

I think...

5.1 supports the NavBar. It doesn't support ...

And AFAIK the ugly workaround UI was removed from the PlexConnect code.

anthony:

Why do you run settings.py?

We need your settings.cfg - in case you did any changes.

We need some infos about your setup - IP of aTV, PMS and stuff. "Read before Posting" - it has to be said. :-D

>>15:55:04 WebServer: serving *.cer: /trailers.cer

Actually, since it is already serving the cert, that basic stuff looks kinda good...

Sorry whats navbar and stash?

If you are using 5.1 you need to press play rather than the select button as the pre play screen does not work.

NavBar - short for "Navigation Bar". Attached.

- XML node used in *PrePlay.xml to store some additional data...

[PlexConnect]
port_pms = 32400
port_webserver = 80
ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0
certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pem
ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8
loglevel = Normal
enable_dnsserver = True
logpath = .
ip_pms = 192.168.178.10
enable_plexgdm = True
hosttointercept = trailers.apple.com
port_ssl = 443
enable_webserver_ssl = True
prevent_atv_update = True
port_dnsserver = 53
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True

Ip of macbook air where PMS is running is 192.168.2.14
DNS of aptv is 192.168.2.14

Again, why do you run settings.py? Twice?

In Settings.cfg set "loglevel = High", restart PlexConnect, on aTV hit trailers and attach your log...

If you are using 5.1 you need to press play rather than the select button as the pre play screen does not work.

You might want to try this as it is the solution for the 5.1 issue you describe ;)

Huh?

Ah... I see. The first part.

Huh?

There are a few random self troubleshooting things described but I am pretty sure they are just red herrings.

yea, wish i knew that before i deleted everything and started from scratch lol

everything is so inconsistent, now I'm getting this in my log

Also, if i change the DNS on ATV now, nothing works, all i get is Computer and Settings Icon on the main screen.....

Restart the machine.

Also in future use CTRL+C to shutdown PlexConnect cleanly to avoid thus kind of issue

restarted, same issue

Did you use the launchctl script to auto start PlexConnect at boot time?

If so use the uninstall script as you want to make sure it is working being manually started first.

everything is done manually right now

why does nothing work when i change the DNS on the ATV? this wasn't the case before, i could actually get into trailers and see my plex movies?
