Best Android TV Client for Plex

I am struggling to find a device for my Plex Client. I know that it is widely supported as an App but I can’t find one which ticks all the boxes.

I am looking for a Plex Client device which will support…

Fast smooth UI
Supporting these services: Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Prime, TNT, Discovery+, Channel 4
Deep linking to the above Apps
Smooth OTA playback (Freesat)

I have tried the following devices…

Amazon Fire Stick. My current device. Very smooth experience but does not support any deep linking

Google TV Chromecast. Juddery TV playback and deep linking only works on Prime and Netflix

Xiaomi MiBox. Slow, juddery TV playback, deep linking supported but doesn’t support BBC iPlayer or ITVX. Side loading apps hasn’t worked

Web OS on my LG TV. Very slow user experience, no deep linking.

Raspberry Pi 5 with Android TV installed. Couldn’t even get Apps to work properly.

My setup is…
Ubuntu Server 24.04.01 installed on a Beelink mini PC, Intel Twin Lake N150, 16GB RAM, c500GB SSD.

Ubuntu server is dedicated to being a Plex server with a 12TB Western Digital USB HDD attached for media.

HDHomeRun Quad tuner for Freeview (currently unused)

VBox DVB S2 Quad tuner for Freesat

I am really struggling to find a device which supports the services I want with deep linking.

Can anyone please help me?

I thought Deep linking from Plex was disabled for a lot of apps after they implemented it.

But for my pick, the best Android client I heard was the Nvidia Shield. You want the “Shield TV Pro” (box), not the “Shield TV” (tube).

I second the Shield TV Pro. I have been using one for a couple of years and have never had any issues playing any of my media.

Thanks both. Deep Linking works lovely on my Pixel 7a.

Can anyone confirm if it works those apps on Nvidia Shield TV Pro. Pricey bit of kit :-}

Not sure what you mean by linking but if you mean casting, I have not had any issues. Yes expensive but well worth it. I changed the screen layout from the android tv to goggle tv as I liked that layout better.

Deep linking should work on the normal Android TV app. It’s on FireOS that it doesn’t work.
