"Best" Media Player for...

Hello,
I’ve been looking for the “best” Plex Player (…for years). I’ve used my LG TV App, but too old, no remote servers… I’ve used my BR Samsung Smart HUB App, but menu navigation is too slow, no easy access from main menu…
For the lasts weeks, I’ve been using an Apple TV 4gen. But HDMI-CEC implementation with LG doesn’t work very well, can’t wake up from suspend, and doesn’t support auto refresh ratio (I have videos in 24p, 25p…), but it’s a great option for Plex+Netflix. Perhaps if refresh ratio setup becomes “open” for non native apps…
Now, I’m using a rPi 2 with the PMP Preview, and seems good enough, but menu navigation sometimes is not very good and some videos are a little juddering. Other “problem”, there is no way to access to Netflix. But in general, most of my needs are covered and it’s very low consumption.
I’m testing an “old” PC with PMP Preview and Pulse Eight CEC adapter and works fine; more video options, smooth menu navigation, auto refresh ratio… but I thing that colours are different from rPi, and there is no auto hibernate option, so power consumption is a problem (compared with rPi, aTV…). With PC, still need a second player for Netflix.
I haven’t tested any Android option, so I don’t know if HDMI-CEC support or auto refresh ratio, but perhaps is a good option for a good Plex experience and Netflix.

Some help… ?

Thanks!

This is brand new, so 1) I haven’t tried it at all 2) with all things new, there will surely be plenty of bugs 3) I’m not that well-read into it’s specs to know flatout if it covers all your needs - but this android tv box seems interesting to me - http://www.mi.com/en/mibox/ - might be worthwhile to check out.

Yes, I’ve seen it this morning (so that I’ve decided to post XD). Very interesting, not an “unknown” Chinese device with unknown apps, and not a limited Nexus TV (not auto refresh ratio, for example). The problem is distribution and after sales, because I’ve read that will not be available at Europe.

Regards.

Upss… no ethernet :frowning:

Perhaps Roku or nVidia Shield?

You can, for an additional cost, purchase a USB/ethernet adapter to make it a wired device

@hthighway yes, but additional device=additional issues, perhaps not compatible with Xiaomi drivers… But yes, perhaps is an option. In the product web page seems to be compatible with Netflix, but nothing about HDMI-CEC, and we will see how does it work with Plex.
