Best way to move my media to a new drive

I bought a bigger external drive and I want to move all my media to this new hard drive but I don’t want to lose any data like poster, video preview thumbnails, chapter thumbnails, analyze audio tracks for loudness but especially the Sonic Analysis for Music.
Any tips will be appreciated.

If you want to replace your old drive completely, do it like this:

  1. disable the periodic and the automatic library scan in Plex.
  2. make a note of the drive letter of the old drive
  3. copy all the content from the old to the new drive. Make sure not to change the folder structure, folder names, and file names.
  4. replace the old with the new drive. After performing the hardware swap, assign the drive letter of the old drive to the new drive.

Plex won’t even notice that something has changed.

Thanks for the quick reply and help Dane22 and OttoKerner, I will do this steps when I receive the new hard drive and will let you know.
Thanks and have a good day.
Ricky
