HI, how are people ripping their discs to reduce the need for transcoding? According to the Plex documentation the PS4 will only stream :
Container: MP4
Video Encoding: H.264 (level 4.0 or lower)
Audio Encoding: AAC
Bitrate: 20Mbps or lower
I use DVDFAB but I’ve not sure how to get the disc to rip using the above restrictions and retain high quality video and the original HD audio.
Ripping a Blu-ray just creates an unencrypted copy of the content. It doesn’t do any conversion.
I never used DVDFAB but AnyDVD HD + MeGUI and there I can very precisely specify what settings the x264 should use, for example which Profile, Level and more specific settings like RefFrames, etc.
I think DVDFAB has settings for all of this too. MP4 must be in muxing or output settings. Bitrate, Codec (H.264) and Level should be in the Encoder settings. And Audio is obviously in Audio settings.
