On Shield, I can’t play media with ass subtitle. Get the spinning wheel. If I deactivate subtitle, playback starts right away.
Could you send us a sample of a video with the issue and some logs?

Should ass subtitles direct play with exoplayer v2?
Going through the procedure that you provided, I toggled between v1 and v2. In v1, pms burned the subtitle onto the video and the playback started. When I switched back to v2, it starting working. But pms is still burning the subs onto the video. Is it the expected behavior? If not, I will provide logs.

It’s expected behaviour unless you have your subtitle settings set to “Only burn image subtitles”, if not your ASS subtitles will be burnt in to allow the embedded fonts and other features to exist. We now support basic ASS direct play in the new player, but not embedded fonts and some of the other advanced features.

I always use auto because is not option for never.
With the exoplayer on (new player) the subtitles doen’t work good. In any format
It skip parts from .srt or .pgs or what ever.
Needs to be addressed asap.
With the old player they work fine.
I have another issues to point but I going to open another tread
I’m using Plex CLIENT on nVidia Shield , not the server.

You can check.
FYI , I check around 40 titles and the problem is the same, no matter if it is 4K/HEVC, VC1, mp4, AVC, etc. The problem is in general, one sample can’t work for you.
All my entire movie collection are in MKV containers. I never had this problem before
These logs don’t include our apps logs so aren’t particularly helpful unfortunately. Is the issue that after you turn a subtitle on it takes ages before it appears?
Are they embedded or external subs?
