[BETA] New Plex TV Series Scanner

Also a look at the source code of the Personal Media Shows Agent - there is no code to import the EPG data.

I just updated to PMS 1.22.2.4282 Win and noticed some series are missing Specials season while others are ok.

The Specials season is missing completely from the UI even after multiple scans.

Edit: Now I’m discovering regular season episodes missing as well. They were there before and have now disappeared…

Edit: I fixed it by renaming to the minimal s00e01 format.

So I think I’ve gotten the new scanner to treat things the same as the old scanner, since something seems to have changed where I can get The Twilight Zone to disambiguate by naming the original The Twilight Zone (1959). Still weird that I had issues with The Twilight Zone, but not Doctor Who.

There doesn’t need to be any code. It simply leaves the EPG data instead of replacing it. This has worked for me for over a year, since I brought it up in the link above. I am also using the latest PMS.

Can you please share your XMLTV file ? Maybe there’s an issue with my formatting …

1, are you sure you dont have any side car files next to your video files ? (like nfo, txt etc )
2, what is your local agent order looking like ?

Mine is at default order

No sidecar files. Agent order is the same. Here is my XMLTV file.
tv_grab_file.zip (2.7 MB)
Note: I haven’t made any new recordings off of PBS Kids for a month or so, nothing new to record.

Run a scan and then grab some logs and post them here.

Settings → Troubleshooting → Download logs.

I started the new DVR - with your XMLTV - recorded dummy TV show - no EPG data in the Library.

I noticed in the other thread you linked that you also didnt get EPG data in the library - only after some time and after cleaning bundles etc.

My guess your Plex confused and thinks it your data is coming from Plex EPG (lucky for you)
or
Plex uses URL in your XMLTV to get each programme information. This still means its not using EPG info - but rather the link info (though most likely link info is exactly the same as EPG)

I cant test the URL - may be zap2it is geo-blocking access.

@drzoidberg33 - could you please settle this for us ? Is there any possible way (Plex Series agent or Personal Media Agent) to guarantee to keep DVR EPG data in the Plex library IF the source of DVR EPG data is XMLTV ?

@jebrossard suggests that it should work with Personal Media Shows , but it doesnt work for me. It was suggested many years ago that there is no way to keep XMLTV data in the library (looking at the bundle source code - i cant see how it would work)

You are correct, it didn’t work right away, but has worked ever since. It was partially complicated by my trying to keep recordings already made, but I gave up, deleted the shows in question, did the plex dance, and started over recording the shows.

Do we have any ETA one when the will be rolled out to fully, i.e out of BETA.

Any updates regarding tvdb searches/fix match by id getting the wrong results:

e.g. a search for tvdb-347115 still brings back the wrong show.

Is there any plan to add automatic collections?

When you add Mac files to an external drive, a file with the same name is created except it has ._ prefixed. This file contains metadata for the Mac filesystem. The scanner is picking up those files as extras, probably because they do have the right extensions.

With the latest beta the metadata seems to be going when “refreshing metadata” from the thumbnails of shows.

On TVDB with ID 352575 the website has all the correct thumbnails and so did my server, however, after updating the metadata manually some of the thumbnails have gone as well as a description of the show. This has happened on a couple of shows…

The items highlighted in red have changed and now wrong. The others are correct.

This is a known issue with the episode images which they’re looking into; I have a few examples as well earlier in the thread … of almost 700 posts … so it’s getting a bit tricky to keep track of existing “known issues”.

“Soon” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’ve filed an issue for this, seems to only affect a very small amount of shows.

No, we don’t currently have a data source for this.

Please refresh that show and check again.

There was an update that went out yesterday that accidentally removed a bunch of things it shouldn’t have, this has been corrected now.

The first issue seems to be fixed now (title mismatch?). Although now, starting with the second season, the first episode [TVDB] Ein geheimnisvoller Duellant I / [TMDB] Ein geheimnisvoller Duellant (1) is showing the TVDB title and the TMDB plot, but unfortunately the plot is english. The issue here is probably another mismatch because TVDB has no (german) plot.
I’m excited for the next version as it has been bothering me that the second season has no plots because I want to use the DVD (TVDB Aired) ordering (well, for now), so keep up the good work team!
