i think its fixed in the release notes for a newer version
I’m using v4.50.6… still broken
4.50.6 isn’t the newest beta version.
where does one download this? as it’s not updating in the app…
According to the announcements and my personal experience, the desktop apps should update themselves. On macOS, it’s showing an alert/popup notification on the new beta with an option to trigger the update.
Do you have any content blockers / security tools that could interfere with Plexamp checking for new versions?
I wonder if it’s now because it’s a beta release… whereas before it was just a new version?
I’m not running anything that could prevent it, I was receiving updates through the app previously.
Real bug, already fixed, just not in a build you can get yet. Sorry about that.
The ARM64 package shipped with a logging build of one of our audio DLLs. It writes a log file next to the exe on startup, which fails in Program Files unless you’re admin, which is exactly the difference you noticed. x64 got the normal build so it never saw this.
Annoyingly the fix landed about three hours after 4.50.6 was cut, so it just missed the boat. It’s in the 4.50.7 betas and will be in 4.50.7 proper.
And nothing’s wrong with your updater. Betas only go to accounts in the tester programme, so a normal install on 4.50.6 is right to see nothing. Your hunch in the last post was spot on.
Run as admin until 4.50.7 is out.
