Plexamp Flatpak v4.7.1 not starting

Plexamp Release Notes:

Hey there guys,

Why do releases to Flatpak take so long? Is there any release-schedule-logic behind it or does it just take several days? If so, why? :frowning:

iirc for instance v 4.6.3 didn’t even make it to Flatpak at all. Any clues on this?

Flathub releases should usually happen within an hour of the rest of the platforms at the latest.

4.6.3 wasn’t released to desktop, it was a mobile-only release with some Android-specific fixes.

I’ve halted the rollout of 4.7.0 temporarily due to issues with the build on some Linux distros. Once that’s been resolved, the update will be made available.

Wow! Thank you very much for that detailed answer! I wasn’t aware that there’s issues on some Linux distros with the latest build.

Is there any source we as users can read about such issues? Any channel I’d be able to see things like this? I’ve checked the GitHub issues but couldn’t find anything about the latest release.

Anyways, thank you again!

I’m sorry if this might come off as spam or being impatient, but are there any updates on this? :see_no_evil:

If it wasn’t such a cool release with so many good changes I wouldn’t mind, but I can’t wait to get my hands on 4.7

The update is currently building and should be available later today

Hey there Simon,

Thank you for keeping me posted  However, I seem to be one of the unlucky guys where it still won’t work :frowning:

I just installed 4.7.1 and when I open it Plexamp just becomes a black square and nothing happens.

Where could I post logs or describe the issue to help you squashing the last bugs?

Ahh that’s frustrating! Sorry for the inconvenience. Any chance you could send me some info about your system? DM me with the output of printenv should help a lot

Haha no worries, I’m glad if I can help fix it for others too then  Sure thing! Sending rn!

Same here on fedora38 and Debian11.7 with current Appimage or Flatpak.

I’m on Kubuntu 23.04 with 6.3.1 Linux Kernel if that helps anything

I found this topic bc I have 2 different machines experiencing a blank screen after upgrading today.
ubuntu 20.04 using appimage

both have same result of just displaying a grey blank screen.

Same problem and output as twillis here, with flatpak on Manjaro
I rolled back the update to have it working again for now.

iOS client now broken, too.

You can roll back the flatpak to the previous working release with:

flatpak update --commit=8cc7328684ace54c8eb0d88c3a8b495f5c92d30905ad34dfde64114c1cdaec2a com.plexamp.Plexamp

I’m experiencing the same issue with the flatpak on Fedora 38. Rolling back to the previous release (8cc7328684ace54c8eb0d88c3a8b495f5c92d30905ad34dfde64114c1cdaec2a) fixes the issue.

Just thought I’d chime in. Same issue with blank screen after upgrading to 4.7.1. Using AppImage on Debian 11.

I am having the same issue on Fedora 38 using the Flatpak. My terminal output is slightly different than the output posted above:

Plexamp also does not seem to create a log file.

It’s definitely broken. Here’s the output from my system. Arch running kernel 6.3.1.

Grey screen here - appimage and flatpak

Okay, that’s super weird, I just noticed that the latest version works for me via appimage  Didn’t even bother to test, but it’s working perfectly with appimage instead of Flatpak on Kubuntu 23.04 with Linux Kernel 6.3.1 :man_shrugging:

EDIT: Okay, was happy too early, it can’t play any media files
