Do you only see that on the first transition to a new tab?

Thanks, reproduced it. Android tears down the background’s drawing surface every time it switches tabs, so you saw black until it redrew. The background is now drawn once and kept as an image, so there’s nothing to tear down. That’ll be in the next beta.
