Better DVR Device Tuning Options

Hi Everyone,
I’m a new Plex Pass user, and I an IN LOVE with the new Live TV / DVR features of Plex.

Here’s something I’d LOVE a solution for if possible…

I have a Hauppage 955Q tuning ONLY channel 3 from an Xfinity Set Top Box (as EVERYTHING is now encrypted, so this is really the ONLY way I can access the channels I’m paying for) but on the machine itself with WinTV it tunes the channel 3 and I can DVR ANYTHING off of my Set Top Box (by manually tuning of course…)

Unfortunately, Plex has only two options only for tuning - Antenna (I’m assuming Digital ATSC ONLY) and Cable, and NEITHER can find that Analog Channel 3 on the 955Q device. I was SOOOO hoping that I could simply tune in one event at a time, and let Plex record it (as the WinTV DVR kinda blows)

Could a future update include more tuning options that COULD find a dumb channel 3 on a tuner, such as manual, or the addition of ANALOG tuning options?

PS: Also, could a CableCard capable hardware be added to the Plex Hardware List?

CableCard device was the original :slight_smile:

PlexDVR will use an HDHomeRun PRIME which is a 3 tuner cable card network adapter. I use one of these on xfinity with Plex and it works really well.

Thanks for your kind post. I am now a VERY Happy HDHomeRun Prime Plex user…! This 3 Tuner box is fantastic!!! It wasn’t too difficult to get a CableCard from Xfinity/Comcast, and in my case here in MA, it is actually FREE (Once I bring them their box back, with PLEASURE, as their box does not do what HomeRun does!)

I was able to snag a used one from a gal in Alabama for $89. It was literally in Alabama yesterday, and now tuning cable (and Public Access, which I LOVE) for me here in MA, thanks to a speedy USPS.
