<Remember I’m not a hardcore user like I’ve seen like others in this group but I’ve been a Plex lover for 10+ years now and have appreciated all the improvements to UI and performance. I haven’t really had any issues or complaints. My one request, however, is a better integration with IMDB. And before people say “why don’t you just use your phone?” when I sit down to watch something, I try not to be on my phone and enjoy the thing I’m watching.
Wishlist:
Access to discover credits WHILE the movie/TV show is playing. I don’t need the fancy thing that Amazon does where it knows exactly whose in the scene, I just want a menu that pops up from the side or bottom (maybe allow the user to choose) that let’s me look up the actors in the movie to see how old they are, what other movies they’ve been in, etc. [mod-edit: duplicate(s) → see below]
IMDB Trivia. This is probably the biggest (and maybe silliest in some eyes) request. I feel like there are a lot of people that love to look up behind the scene information, stories from set, etc that make watching the film more fun. They also have this for every episode of TV shows as well. Accessing this in a “live” menu while watching the movie would also be amazing. [mod-edit: duplicate(s) → see below]
Filming Locations. Like the other stuff mentioned, sometimes it drives you crazy when you recognize places while you’re watching something so to have access to that would be great.
Soundtracks would also be great. IMDB does a good job at including all the songs in the movie even if they aren’t included in the end credits. Sometimes you want to know what songs are being played in random scenes! [mod-edit: feature already exists / implemented → see below]
Cross platform consistency. Plexweb gives so much more detail than other platforms (specifically Apple TV) like the age of the actors and the names of the characters they play on the attached movies. On Apple TV it just shows a mini bio and a list of the movies.
I’m not a programmer but I feel like these aren’t difficult or unrealistic requests and I think it would add a lot to the user experience. Maybe other people have thoughts of ways this could happen or features I hadn’t thought of. Anyway, just wanted to share on the off chance one of the official Plex gurus sees it. ;-)to vote for your own suggestion after you create it>
